Our Approach

We offer specialised care programs in Canberra for children, focusing on building peer relationships and growing independence through everyday activities and adventures. We are dedicated to spending time exploring, building, and learning, alongside people who value additional support.

This weekend is Summer Party Day!

To celebrate the end of the year we are going to have a summer party! Water fights, holiday themed party games and some of the Edventure Care’s favourite activities from this year!

We all had a great time at our 18+ walking program yesterday! We walked around Woden, had a picnic, found four leaf clovers 🍀, played frisbee golf🥏, and did some slacklining!

We still have a few spots left if you or someone you know would like to join us 😎

Happy International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD)! Edventure Care's dream is to give Canberrans with neurodiversity equitable access to participate in activities that are available to neurotypical Canberrans.

We are proud to be involved (in our own small way) in helping to break down both the structural and attitudinal barriers for people with disabilities.

We can't wait to celebrate IDPwD day with our Saturday group tomorrow and hope that all of our participants, friends and family members with disabilities have a wonderful day!

This weekend is Star Wars Day!

We will be building box bases, making lightsabers, playing some Lego star wars, using the force, and destroying a death star pinata!

We had an amazing time at our first 18+ walking program on Monday! We had a fruit and cheese platter on a jetty, saw a double rainbow, and walked the whole way around lake Tuggeranong!

Incredible work team 💪We are excited for our next walk in Woden on Monday! 🏃‍♀️

This weekend is Pokémon Day!

Gotta catch them all! Another theme at one of our participants requests :) We will be designing our own poke balls, playing a Pokémon ping pong ball game, create Pokémon pom poms, and battle to see who is the Pokémon champion.

This weekend is Comic Book Day!

POW! BAM! BOOM! This week participants will have the opportunity to read and write their own comic books, dress as their favourite comic book characters, play a speech bubble game, save the day as superheroes in the gym and more!

We are super excited to announce that Edventure Care will be offering new programs for young adults called Edventure Plus.

The first program we will be operating will be called Movement Mondays, a small group walking program!

Earlier this year, we reached out to tell them about Edventure Care, as they are well known for supporting programs that benefit our local community. Impressed with the program, they have partnered with us to continue to support Canberra families. Before lockdown, we ran a staff training event with Beyond Bank's support to benefit our program and participants.

This weekend is Carnival day!

For our Carnival themed day we will be making masks, designing a moving parade float, practising juggling, tight rope walking, ribbon twirling, making some music and of course dancing!

This weekend is Australian Bush day!

This week we will explore everything we love about the Aussie bush! We will do some weaving with raffia, create some native plant art, set up a tent, swag and humpy, eat some bush tucker, learn how to treat a snake bite wound and explore some native plant sensory trays.

Calling all ghosts and goblins! 👻 This week at Edventure Care we have our Halloween themed day! Please come dressed up in a costume if you like. Our staff will be dressing up too. 🧛‍♂️ 🧝‍♀️ See you all at the haunted house. 🎃

Edventure Care is happy to be back and supporting our families for term 4! Our team is incredibly excited to see the smiling faces of our Edventurers and have some fun in these warmer months!

Our term 4 program is already fully booked but keep an eye out for some exciting announcements about new programs that we will be starting early next year 🙂

We held a very successful Video Games themed day last Saturday at our participant's request! While there were different video games and activities running, the highlight was definitely Minecraft on the big screen!

Last Friday, it was six months since our first Edventure Care session! What a journey it has been! Starting with a small group of about 3 participants, we are currently working with over 20 families on a regular basis. We want to say a BIG thank you to everyone who has supported us this year; Cranleigh school, our amazing staff and of course the incredible families we work with! We could not have done it without you all! Finally we want to thank the participants who we smile and laugh with each Saturday! You make all the paperwork worth it! :)

Why ‘Ed’-venture Care?

Our program combines adventures and education! We run Edventure Care out of Cranleigh, a specialist school in Holt Belconnen. The program is led by Jordan, a special needs educator and the team includes another four teachers, two LSA’s, a youth worker and other amazing and experienced workers! So we are Edventure Care!

We had our Giving Back themed day on Saturday. We made chocolate cupcakes for our parents and carers, planted some veggies, made some dog toys and built bird feeders! I hope the birds enjoy snacking on the dried fruit as much as we did while making them! 🍏 🐦

What did we do over the holidays?

We... invented a marshmallow launcher, became stuck in a huge spider web, built bird feeders, blew human sized bubbles, caught minibeasts, won a pillow fight, baked then ate some brownies, went on a skiing simulator, celebrated two birthday parties, defended a blanket fort, made fake snow, used gummy worms to fish for friends, had a snowball fight, did lots of sensory play, threw ‘bees’ into their honeycomb homes, baked chocolate cupcakes, died our hair, planted some veggies, made dog toys, had a glow in the dark dance party, …

A few weeks back Karl and Freya went to Queensland to play Handbal in the Australian Club Championship! 🤾‍♂️ Karl got top goal scorer AND won most valuable player (MVP) in the competition!

All that running around at Edventure Care has really helped with their fitness! From all of us at Edventure Care congratulations guys and ... you're welcome! 😂

This is Catherine, one of our newest members of staff! Catherine worked as an ASBA then as a LSA at a specialist primary school here in Canberra for over 10 years. We are incredibly lucky to have such a knowledgeable and experienced person joining the Edventure Care team! Welcome Catherine!

Shout out Sunday: Craig runs a program called Sense Rugby here in Canberra. A Rugby program for children with additional needs, Craig is supported by an Occupational Therapist. Some of our participants attend his program and love it!

Craig organised the Cerebral Palsy Alliance Ball earlier this year and Edventure Care happily donated some free sessions for the auction. Craig's amazing work raised over $45,000 for the ‘Early Response Therapy Program for Babies at Risk of Cerebral Palsy’ program. Well done Craig!

Kings of the castle!

It was great to see our participants work together to make cardboard castles for our Medieval day last week! They particularly enjoyed the shredded paper snow storm!

If the staff at Edvenutre Care have learnt anything this year it's that the messiest activities often bring out the biggest smiles!

We are looking forward to getting messy with you all during our Mad Scientist Day this Saturday!

We are so thankful to the amazing Cranleigh Primary School for letting us rent their spaces for our program! The adapted facilities and equipment allow participants to engage safely in our program. This is the amazing Sensory Gym that has been used in the past for a 'ninja obstacle course', 'super hero training' and of course 'floor is lava'! The swings that hang from the ceiling are a favourite!

Meet the magnificent Maxine, who volunteered at Cranleigh School before joining our program! Maxine used to work as a painting instructor and now she uses her creativity to help plan and implement awesome art activities at Edventure Care!

The only one who didn't have fun on our Disney Day last Saturday was the piñata dragon! Our Edventurers searched him out and saved the day in our defeat the dragon game!

It was great practise for our Medieval day this coming Saturday!

Flashback to our Worldly Wonders themed day that was full of engaging activities from around the world! One of the highlights for our participants was making and eating Sushi! 🇯🇵

Joaquin has been to Edventure Care just two times so far and it is enough for us parents to see how much he is enjoying the program already and how caring, loving and knowledgeable the team is.

He is not just playing but learning. It is an amazing service that I didn't know could possibly exist. It's an alternative for parents like me who don't want to use a 1-to-1 support person for care but still gives us a chance to do some shopping and run errands.
